About me
Becoming a psychologist is where my psyche brought me to, a “call”. It has never been a ‘career’ for me but it is how I live.
As a child and teenager, I had to move a lot between countries which brought me joy but of course, instability, too. Moving to the Netherlands as a refugee was the starting point to explore my inner journey more seriously as I was struggling with many things, at the same time. As a result, I became obsessively interested in working with expats, and refugees from different cultural backgrounds.
I did my bachelor and master of science in Clinical psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. My main focus in therapy is not on symptoms or giving quick solutions but rather on exploring, understanding and self-awareness. This leads to gaining independence in my clients so that they can better think and find what they need to do. Therapy is an inner journey to understand the “self” more and finding out what is making us think, feel and act the way we do. I believe that there is no ending point to this. The journey IS the destination.
Method
My main favorite therapy approaches are: Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Schema therapy, psychodynamic therapy, client-centered therapy, and Mindfulness. However, there is no fixed protocol fitting all. I truly take unique individual and cultural factors into account as such factors can never be ignored. Therefore, I apply a holistic and integrative approach.
